Happy New Year

On new year eve, both Gordy and I had appointments at the Bahrain Specialist Hospital. Gordy had a sonogram and I had blood test.  We were finished with our tests by 11 am and went to the location of my surprise night out. I told Gordy to pack a bag but did not tell here were we would be going for New Year.
On new year eve, I took Gordy out for the night.  I found a nice hotel that looking unique.  The C Hotel is a large house boat with the rooms build on a barge and anchored along the Bahrain waterfront.
I booked the room a month in advance and got the last room for new year eve.  We arrived before lunch and was able to check in the room.  We had a room on the first deck with one large window looking over the small marina.   The room was of good size and reminded me of our RV.
We went to the outdoor patio and took a table under the shade.  We ordered calamari and a salad to share.  We intended to take a photo of our meal but hunger was stronger then our memory to take a photo.  The best photo wold have been to take a photo of the empty plates.
The C hotel is part of a small resort called Coral Bay.  On weekends this place is packed with people.
The have a small beach, a nice swimming pool, and rent jet boats.  There is a on site PADI dive store.
Next to Coral Bay is the Bahrain Dolphin Resort. the Dolphin Resort has a dolphin and sea lion shop and a good place to bring the children.

Dinner started at 10 pm. and included entertainment, a live band and belly dancers.  From were we were seated we could not see the belly dancers but the music and light show was all Arabic.  Our meal was all Arabic and was served in severing with about five or six dishes of food.  We had fresh hot Arab bread that you used to dip into the pasty dishes, I think one was Hummus. There was strips of spicy meat, could have been lamb or may be beef.  There was a small salad included in the dishes.  The second serving arrived and included fried shrimp, fried calamari, and a couple of other dishes I cannot remember but I do recall that all plates were empty at the end of the dinner.
Nets on the ceiling contained balloons.  The balloons were release at midnight.  Inside the balloons were lights flashing which added to the lights from the music.    This was the first time in 35 years that Gordy were together and awake on New Years.  We remained for another ten minutes and went back to the room.  We slept till eight am.
The next morning we had breakfast on the patio.  I had the American breakfast, beef bacon, scrambled eggs, pastries, fruit and coffee. There was so much food we asked for a to go bag.
We were back in our house by 11 am and rested the rest of the day.
